Switzerland may be a small country geographically, but it is remarkably diverse in its landscapes, cultures, languages, traditions, and history. Truly understanding a location requires time, dedication, and continuous study. Depending on the size of the area, its history, and the level of depth one wants to achieve, it can take six months to a year or even longer to properly study a particular location in Switzerland.

My learning continues well beyond my professional duties. When I am off duty, I dedicate much of my free time to studying Switzerland. I often use my train journeys to read, research, and deepen my knowledge of different regions, their history, and their cultural heritage. I believe that a good guide should never stop learning, even when not working.

What interests me most is understanding how the past continues to shape life in Switzerland today. History is not simply a collection of events that happened centuries ago; its influence can still be seen in today’s political system, regional identities, architecture, traditions, languages, borders, and even in the way people live and think.

Events such as the influence of the Habsburgs or the campaigns of Napoleon, for example, affected different parts of Switzerland in different ways, and their consequences can still be understood in the Switzerland we see today.

For me, guiding is about making these connections clear: showing how the Switzerland of the past has helped create the Switzerland we experience today. This combination of continuous learning, personal experience, and a deep interest in history allows me to offer visitors a more meaningful and authentic understanding of the country.
